Janta Dal United (JDU) National President, former Bihar Chief Minister, and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, stating that Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, sacrifice, and mutual harmony are the greatest strength for the nation’s unity and social cohesion, while Shastri’s simple lifestyle, honesty, and dedication to serving the country remain an exemplary model for public life today.
In a message today, Mr. Kumar said that Mahatma Gandhi conveyed a message of unity, brotherhood, peace, and social harmony through his life and struggle. His principles are not merely a historical legacy but also serve as a guide for the present and the future. It is necessary to adopt Bapu’s principles in one’s life and public conduct while ensuring that his ideas are passed on to the new generation.
The former Chief Minister said that politics which binds society together strengthens the nation. If brotherhood, mutual harmony, and social unity are strong, the foundations of the democratic system and development will also be solid. He urged people to commit to maintaining mutual trust and a pleasant environment in society by following the path shown by Gandhi.
