Decision to change batting order proved unsuccessful: Nair
Navi Mumbai: UP Warriorz coach Abhishek Nayar has admitted that the changes made to the batting order against RCB were not effective. He said that the decision to open with Harleen Deol was wrong and he takes full responsibility for it. According to Nayar, the strategy was formed keeping the opposing team in mind, but the plan did not succeed. In this match, Kiran Navgire was sent at number four, whereas she was an opener in the first match. Nayar said that we thought the ball would swing initially, so technically strong Harleen could do better in the power play, so that Kiran Navgire could use her hit power later. In response to questions raised about the batting order, Nayar said that in T20, the numbers after the top three are not that important. He said that when the team's wickets are falling quickly, one needs to just stay on the wicket instead of "role and position". UP Warriorz suffered their second consecutive defeat in WPL 2026. He praised Shweta Sehrawat, saying that her role in the middle order and wicket-keeping could be important for the Indian team in the future. Nayar clarified that in T20, the top three numbers are important, the rest of the numbers can be changed according to the situation.
