New Delhi: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) will collaborate in the fields of research, education, training, and technology for national defence and internal security.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two institutions in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at South Block in New Delhi on Monday.
The government's priority is to develop a coordinated strategy to counter all possible internal adversary activities while facing external challenges.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the objective of the MoU is to strengthen India's self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies in line with the national weightage of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the overall national weightage adopted during Amrit Kal.
The agreement reflects a joint commitment to consolidate the technology, knowledge, and insight required for defence actions to enhance national security preparations and strengthen India's strategic autonomy in internal security.
Rashtriya Raksha University, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is an institution of national importance. The university is a nodal centre for defence studies designated by the University Grants Commission (UGC), providing strong academic, training, and policy expertise in the field of internal security.

Under the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate on joint research projects, PhD and fellowship programs, and special training and capacity-building programs for security forces.
The collaboration will also include studies on emerging challenges in defence operations, analysis of the technology gap, forecasting future requirements, and life cycle management of systems developed by DRDO for central armed police forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Eminent scientist and Director General (Production Coordination and Service Interaction), Dr. Chandrika Kaushik, RRU Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Secretary, Department of Defence Research and Development, and Chairman, DRDO, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, were also present on the occasion of signing the MoU.
