Overmining: Big action on BJP MLA's companies, final notice issued for recovery of Rs 443 crore

2 min read

In Jabalpur, the administration has cracked down on BJP MLA Sanjay Pathak amidst allegations of over-mining against mining companies. The administration's move to issue a final notice to Pathak for recovery of Rs 443 crore from the aforementioned companies has created a stir in the state. The notice has been sent to Anand Mining, Narmada Minerals, and Pacific Exports, which are accused of extracting iron ore several times more than the approved limit. The matter is very serious as Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav himself confirmed the fine in the assembly, causing a stir in political and mining circles.

The department has submitted a 467-page detailed report to the administration, which reveals large-scale discrepancies in mining based on satellite images, DGPS mapping, and dispatch register checks. According to the report, 8 to 10 times more mining has been done than the permitted area. On this basis, a final notice was issued on November 10 on the instructions of Jabalpur Collector Raghvendra Singh. The companies of MLA Sanjay Pathak had asked for documents related to the account, which have been provided by the department.

Officers say that a decision on the next step will be taken only after receiving a response to the notice, but if a satisfactory response is not received within the stipulated time, attachment action will be initiated. In this regard, the mining department is preparing to issue an RC soon. The administration has made it clear that such large-scale irregularities cannot be ignored. This action has also caused a stir among several traders associated with the mining business, as for the first time such a large fine has been imposed on a company of an MLA of the ruling party.

MLA Sanjay Pathak has so far maintained silence on the matter, which has further fueled speculation. The government's strict action against an MLA of its own party has added more headlines to the case. Now, everyone's eyes are on the administration's action. This issue has not only become a major topic of political debate but has also raised serious questions about the monitoring and regulation of mining activities in the state.
