The legacy of the Congress is based on failures and wrong decisions: BJP
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has attacked the statement of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on the party's foundation day. The BJP said that the legacy of the Congress has been one of failures and wrong decisions, not successes for the country.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said at a press conference here on Saturday that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), the division of the country, the 1984 riots, the land deal with China, and the Emergency are the legacy of the Congress. He alleged that Congress President Kharge is working like a remote control president and is allegedly serving the Gandhi family. There is no internal democracy in the Congress and the party leadership is not in a position to speak despite being aware of the fact.
The BJP spokesperson said that Congress leaders tried to justify the 1984 riots, despite the loss of many innocent lives. The Emergency was a black day for the country's democracy, reflecting the Congress's thinking and style of working.
Bhatia said that the Congress was founded on December 28, 1885, in Mumbai, and while referring to the Congress's contribution to the freedom struggle, emphasized the need for self-awareness in today's leadership. The Congress has become the weak link in the country's democracy.
BJP spokesperson Bhatia said that the Congress needs to break free from foreign thinking and connect with the country's roots. Today, the Congress lacks a solid ideology and public trust, thus weakening its foundation.
It is worth noting that on the occasion of the Congress's foundation day, Kharge had said that the Congress was founded in Mumbai on December 28, 1885, and since then, for 62 years (until 1947), millions of Congress workers had faced the British, made sacrifices, suffered torture in jail, and only then did the country achieve independence. Kharge had also attacked the NDA government, saying that in the last 11 years, the NDA government has weakened the institutions established by the Congress.
