The ruling party is questioning the decisions of great leaders: Priyanka

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said in the Lok Sabha on Monday that those who have always opposed the Constitution are now questioning the decisions of the country's great leaders.
Ms. Gandhi, participating in the discussion in the House on the occasion of the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram, said that after independence, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and other great personalities had agreed to recognize Vande Mataram as the national song. She said that the "anti-constitution" people are now questioning their decisions, have they become bigger than these great personalities?
She said that the country is currently facing numerous problems, but the ruling party is discussing such topics instead of talking about these issues, which do not need to be discussed. The policies of the ruling party are harming the country. Vande Matram is alive in every corner of the country, it cannot be discussed, but since the ruling party has demanded a discussion, it is being discussed.
Ms. Gandhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivers good speeches, but is weak on facts. She said that Mr. Modi presented some incorrect facts about Vande Matram in his address. She said that in 1875, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote two stanzas of Vande Matram, and in 1882, his novel "Anand Math" was published, in which he included four more stanzas of Vande Matram.
She said that in 1905, it was sung at the Congress session in Varanasi and was adopted for all Indian functions. Later, everyone started singing it, and the song became a motivator for sacrificing lives for the motherland. The British Empire was shaken by the sound of this song.
Ms. Gandhi said that in 1937, with the consent of great personalities like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Guru Dev Rabindranath Tagore, two stanzas (antara) were removed from it. She said that these stanzas could have been given a communal meaning. She said that both the national song and the national anthem were selected by Guru Dev Rabindranath Tagore.
Ms. Gandhi said that Mr. Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister for almost 12 years, while Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was in jail for so many years during the freedom struggle. Mr. Modi keeps counting the shortcomings of Pandit Nehru. She demands that the works of the former Prime Minister be discussed in this House for 10 hours, two days, or three days, and then this issue be closed forever. After that, discussions should be held in this House on issues like pollution, inflation, unemployment, security, reservation, youth problems, women's conditions, etc.
She said that the ruling party tries to divert attention. Their rule is limited to oppression, pretension, electoral politics, and event management. The discussion on Vande Matram is also being held in view of the Bengal elections. She said that the national song Vande Matram has always been dear, sacred, and will remain sacred.
