Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Friday night on a two-day visit to West Bengal. At around 12:30 am on Friday, he landed at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, where he was warmly received by BJP leaders. Several senior party leaders, including BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar, Union Minister Shantanu Thakur, Union Minister of State Nisith Pramanik, and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, were present at the airport.

During his two-day visit, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will focus on organizational meetings as well as large-scale public outreach programs. This time, his attention will be on public programs and direct contact with party workers, rather than internal organizational activities. According to a member of the BJP state committee, after arriving in Kolkata, Amit Shah will hold an important meeting with the state BJP core committee today, where they will discuss preparations for the upcoming elections and organizational strategy.

The Home Minister will address two major public rallies, including party worker conferences. The first rally will be held in the Barakpur area of North 24 Parganas district, while the second rally will be held in Siliguri, Darjeeling district, North Bengal. After the program in Siliguri, he will leave for New Delhi from Bagdogra airport. According to party sources, the Barakpur program will be attended by workers from the Bangaon, Barasat, Basirhat, and Barakpur Lok Sabha constituencies. Similarly, the Siliguri program will be attended by party workers from the Siliguri, Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar organizational districts.

Political analysts believe that the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, newly elected BJP national president Nadda, and now Union Home Minister Amit Shah to West Bengal in the same month, before the announcement of election dates, indicates that the BJP is fully active and serious about the state assembly elections. Earlier, Amit Shah had also visited Kolkata in late December, where he held an important organizational meeting and addressed a press conference, in which he launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee government. His second visit within a month is being considered highly significant.
