The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it has prepared itself for a long-term war with the US and is now more prepared than ever. IRGC spokesperson Hussain Mohibi said this on Monday. According to Mehr News, Iran's semi-official news agency, Mohibi referred to America's historic and humiliating defeat, claiming that Washington had suffered strategic failures on several fronts. These include the failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the weaknesses of US military bases and intelligence centers in the region, and the performance of US military technology compared to Iranian capabilities. Mohibi said America has not lost a war, America has lost a system. He claimed that America has also lost its influence in the region. He said that Iran is now playing a role in the creation of a new security system in the region. Mohabi said that the war is ongoing and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has prepared itself for a long-term war. We were prepared before and now more than ever for a long war. The IRGC warned that further US military action could spread the conflict to new territories. "If another offensive is launched against Iran, there will be significant changes in our defensive and offensive strategy... We will certainly change the geography of the war," Mohibi said. "We will definitely launch new weapons with new capabilities and the world will be surprised," he added. "We also have new targets that have not been hit yet." Mohabi added that Tehran is ready to prolong the nearly seven-month-old conflict. The statement came after US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would seek a new diplomatic deal to resume more aggressive military strikes against Iran or end the war. Trump has previously warned that he could take further action to destroy Iran's Islamic Democratic government if he chooses, but he has not ruled out diplomacy. He had also expressed his willingness to meet with Iranian President Masoud Al-Badishian on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York this week.
