Patna saw huge ruckus amid the 'Besiegement of Chief Minister's Residence' march by students. A large number of students were heading towards Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary's residence, but were stopped by the police. Clashes between the police and the protesters also led to chaos. The protesting students are demanding the cancellation of the 70th 'BPSC' examination and had announced a march from Gandhi Maidan to Raj Bhavan today. As the students marched towards the Raj Bhavan, they broke the barricades put up by the police, following which a clash broke out between the students and the police.
It should be noted that the students were not willing to stop their steps, seeing which the police first gave them a stern warning and then confrontational situations arose. The students were marching to surround the Chief Minister's residence with their various demands. Giving his statement on the whole issue, DSP Kamakhya Narayan Singh said, "We will stop them and we will not let them go ahead." However, the DSP also said that the interaction with the students has been positive and we hope that the students will comply. He has raised several issues with senior officers, and hopes that the congestion will ease. "If the students don't agree, we will stop them here," he says.
During the protest, the students have put forward several demands, notably the cancellation of the 70th 'BPSC' examination. Apart from this, there is also a demand to conduct only one exam for the appointment of TRE-4 teachers. Students say that there should be no PT-menus and new experiments should be done with TRE-5. Students also do not want any provision of negative marking. The students are also loudly demanding that all the examinations including BPSC Daroga should be cured, the domicile policy and age limit should be increased and the age limit should be relaxed in government appointments.
