Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the Congress leadership has always misled the public by telling lies, and the Modi government has pulled 27 crore people out of the poverty line.
Shah said on Sunday that "the Congress leadership has always misled the public by telling lies. It makes me laugh that the Congress prince Rahul Gandhi talks about farmers in this country's parliament. I want to tell him today that how much grain did you buy from farmers. We have bought grain from farmers at MSP 15 times more than you. The budget for farmers during your time was only Rs 26,000 crore, which Modi ji has increased to Rs 1 lakh 29,000 crore."
He said that "when the Congress government was in power, connectivity had reached only 500 villages. Today, connectivity has reached one lakh seven thousand villages. Prime Minister Modi has provided five kilos of free grain per person per month to 80 crore people in the country. This food security has become transparent now. The Congress used to talk about employment, but Modi ji has provided benefits of the 'Sonu Nidhi' scheme to one crore nine lakh street vendors in the country. With solid policies, the Modi government has also improved the standard of living of more than 60 crore people in 10 years and pulled 27 crore people out of the poverty line. Today, corruption and lack of transparency in the grain distribution and security sector have been eliminated. This will protect the right of every poor citizen to get grain and there will be no place for middlemen."
Shah said that the Congress had talked about removing poverty but did not do any solid work for it. Modi has improved the standard of living of the poor by providing them with houses, electricity, gas, grain, insurance of Rs 5 lakh, and drinking water. He said that the previous government had misled farmers with loan waivers only once in 70 years, while Modi has been providing a facility by sending Rs 6,000 to every farmer's bank account every year for the past 10 years, so that the farmer does not need to take a loan.
He said that the opposition is misleading the public about the free trade agreements with the European Union and England and the trade agreement with the US. The previous government had signed the Dunkel proposal, making farmers insecure. He said that through agreements with the European Union, England, and the US, the Modi government has fully protected the interests of farmers.
