Home Minister the Biggest Traitor for Failing to Stop Illegal Infiltration: Maulana Mahmood Madani

Jamiat President Maulana Mahmood Madani said that stopping illegal infiltration is the responsibility of the Home Ministry. He opposed targeting Muslims, demanded the establishment of an independent demographic commission, and opposed the Uniform Civil Code.

New Delhi: Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, demanded that the central government, particularly the Home Ministry, be held accountable in the matter of illegal infiltration, stating that if the Home Minister allows illegal infiltration or fails to stop it, he is the biggest traitor. According to a press release issued by Jamiat, he also raised questions about the political targeting of Muslims in the name of infiltration and demographic changes.

It is worth noting that he was addressing the two-day National Executive Council of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind held on October 30 and 31 in Nuh, Mewat, Haryana. More than 3,000 scholars from across the country participated in the session, where discussions were held on constitutional rights, religious freedom, and the issues facing minorities.

Maulana Madani said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind does not support the illegal presence of any foreign citizen in India, but the important question is who is responsible for illegal infiltration. He said that stopping it is the responsibility of the Home Ministry, so accountability should also lie with that ministry. According to him, targeting Muslims in this matter is not right.

A resolution was passed in the session rejecting the so-called allegations of 'demographic jihad' and claims that Muslims are altering the country's demographic balance. Citing data from the Census and the National Family Health Survey, the resolution stated that the decadal growth rate of the Muslim population was 32.9 percent between 1981 and 1991, which decreased to 24.7 percent between 2001 and 2011.

Jamiat also raised questions about the high-level demographic committee constituted by the Home Ministry on May 26, 2026. According to the resolution, no demographic expert is included in the committee, and its formation is based on the pre-existing assumption that illegal infiltration is the primary cause of demographic changes.

Jamiat demanded the formation of an independent and impartial commission consisting of experts with international reputation to scientifically examine demographic changes, including migration, education, employment, and social and economic conditions. The Executive Council opposed the moves to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Assam, and other states, calling it a challenge to religious freedom, family autonomy, and constitutional rights.

The resolution appealed to Muslims to maintain their adherence to Sharia and ensure justice for women in family matters. It also emphasized settling matters of divorce, maintenance, and mahr in accordance with the principles of Sharia.

Maulana Madani rejected the political narrative that the majority community is under threat, stating that before independence, this claim was never made that the majority community is in danger, but this campaign began after adopting a secular constitution. He said that it is not the majority community that is in danger, but the lust for power and political positions.
