MNREGA was actually bulldozed in Parliament: Congress
The Congress said that the action taken in Parliament to repeal the MGNREGA law is absolutely correct, as stated by Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi, that the Modi government has run a bulldozer in Parliament in the name of MGNREGA. Ms. Gandhi, in a statement on Saturday, described MGNREGA as a revolutionary scheme and said that the Modi government has used a bulldozer in Parliament to scrap the scheme.
Jairam Ramesh, in charge of the Congress communications department, said in a statement on Sunday that the basic role of MGNREGA has been changed, the original structure of the scheme has been altered, and the employment being provided to rural, deprived, and exploited classes has been abolished. Explaining the three principles of MGNREGA, he said the first principle was to provide employment, the second was to strengthen the basic infrastructure required for the local community through employment and to secure a means of livelihood, and the third was that the gram panchayat used to decide who would be given employment, where, and when, but now this decision will be made by the central government.
Mr. Jairam Ramesh, directly attacking the BJP, said that the BJP has a strong hatred for the name of Mahatma Gandhi and the laws made during the Congress era. It is beyond my understanding why these people were in such a hurry in this matter. The new law that has been made has not been discussed with the states. This will further worsen the financial condition of the state governments. In this regard, it is absolutely correct for Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sonia Gandhi to say that a bulldozer has been run in Parliament.
