Politics of hatred is leading the country towards destruction, sectarianism has put the country's peace in danger: Maulana Arshad Madni
Expressing deep sorrow and concern over the current situation in the country, Maulana Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, said that the country is going through a very sensitive phase today, where communal forces are targeting Muslims with a well-planned strategy. He said this while addressing the general assembly of Jamiat Ulama-e-Karnataka in Bangalore. According to a release issued here today, he said that the fire of hatred is being fueled and society is being deprived of humanity. The situation has become so serious that innocent Muslims are being killed, lynched in broad daylight, and then the victim is presented as the culprit.
Maulana Madani said that although the communal elements have the power of government and authority, we have the power of love, affection, humanity, and the Constitution of the country, with which we can foil these conspiracies. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has never walked on the path of hatred and will never do so, but its message has always been of peace, brotherhood, and humanity. We do not see Hindu or Muslim, we see humans and serve on that basis.
He expressed regret over the fact that in this country, the descendants of those who fought against the British, suffered imprisonment, and made sacrifices for the freedom of the country are being called 'traitors' today. The youth of this community are being falsely implicated in terrorism cases and their lives are being ruined. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind fights cases of the oppressed across the country, from lower courts to the Supreme Court, and there is a long list of innocents who have been acquitted due to the organization's legal struggle. We do not fight cases on the basis of religion, but on the basis of oppression and humanity. Communal forces allege that we fight cases of terrorists, but our clear stance is that we fight cases of the oppressed, not terrorists.
Expressing deep concern over the growing communalism in the country, Maulana Madani said that today the roots of communalism have become very deep, which is not only affecting Muslims but also the entire country, and other minorities are also feeling the heat. He reacted to the statement of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma regarding Miyah Muslims, saying that we have no shame in being called Miyah Muslims, because Miyah Muslims live and die for Islam. Such statements reflect a particular mindset that is evident from language and behavior.
Maulana Madani mentioned the situation in Assam, saying that Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind had waged a legal battle over the NRC issue. He said that in Assam, Muslims were consistently being declared foreigners and made suspects in the eyes of the majority, resulting in perpetual communal tension at the social level. Even after six years of the final NRC implementation, the issue of non-issuance of identity cards was taken up by Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind in the Supreme Court, which expressed surprise and issued notices to the Center, the Assam government, and the NRC authorities. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has never backed down, nor will it back down today or in the future, because it is an organization that has made sacrifices for freedom and whose elders have played a key role in the formation of this country's secular constitution.
Maulana Madani expressed deep sorrow over the current situation of Muslims in the country, saying that today Muslims are being called traitors, their homes are being bulldozed, madrasas and mosques are being demolished. In such circumstances, who would be crazy enough to think of settling here? He said that Muslims are being killed in the name of the cow, although the cow is not just for slaughter, I myself have cows and we raise them, but the communal mindset just needs an excuse to kill Muslims.
Maulana Madani said that this country is ours, Hindus and Muslims have been living together for centuries, our tradition has been one of love, affection, and brotherhood, but unfortunately, communalism has spread so much today that innocent Muslims are being killed in broad daylight and declared terrorists. This country, which was once known for love and affection, is now burning in the fire of hatred, and it is the responsibility of every justice-loving citizen, not just Muslims, to extinguish this fire. He emphasized that hatred cannot be answered with hatred, but with love and affection, we must share each other's joys and sorrows, live together, because this is the teachings of Islam and the true spirit of this country.
Finally, Maulana Madani said that there is no need to be disappointed with the current situation, the circumstances that exist today will not last forever. Every day the sun rises, and the day will come when the sun of peace, brotherhood, and love will rise, and the sun of hatred and communalism will set.
Notably, the grand general assembly was attended by prominent figures including Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind General Secretary Mufti Ma'sum Taqeeb, Jamiat Ulama-e-Karnataka President Maulana Abdul Rahim Rashidi, General Secretary Mahbubullah Khan Amin, Jamiat Ulama-e-Tamil Nadu President Mufti Sabil Ahmed Qasmi, and Jamiat Ulama-e-Andhra and Telangana General Secretary Mufti Mahmood Zuber Qasmi. On this occasion, 21 Huffaz from Madrasa Ulum Shar'iyyah, Sharjapur, Bangalore, were also awarded certificates by Maulana Madani.
