Ms. Murmu said in her address to the nation on the eve of Republic Day on Sunday that India is the world's fastest-growing major economy. Despite the global uncertainty, the country is witnessing continuous economic growth. She said, "We are moving forward towards achieving the goal of becoming the world's third-largest economy in the near future." She further said that by investing in the construction of world-class infrastructure, the country is rebuilding its economic structure at a higher level. Self-reliance and Swadeshi are our basic principles in the journey of building economic destiny.
President Murmu, while terming the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the most important decision for the country's economic integration after independence, said that it has established a "one country, one market" system. Referring to the next-generation reforms made in the GST last September, she said that the recent decision to make the GST system more efficient will further strengthen our economy.

Many unnecessary laws have been repealed, several compliance barriers have been removed, and the system has been simplified in the interest of the common people.
She said that the government is prioritizing ease of living with the aim of making everyday life better. Ms. Murmu said that during the last decade, an attempt has been made to achieve national goals through people's participation. Important national campaigns have been given the shape of public movements. Local institutions have been made a vehicle for progressive change in villages and cities.
She, while terming the building of a developed nation as the collective responsibility of all compatriots, said that society has infinite power. When the efforts made by the government get active support from society, revolutionary changes take place. Giving the example of digital payments, she said that people have adopted it on a large scale. Today, more than half of the world's digital transactions take place in India.
From buying goods from a small shop to paying auto-rickshaw fares, the use of digital payments has become an inspiring example for the global community. She expressed hope that compatriots will participate actively in achieving other national goals in a similar manner.
