The central theme of the 77th Republic Day celebrations is based on the 150th anniversary of the national song 'Vande Mataram' and its unique role in the history of Hindustan. This song represents the collective consciousness of the nation and emerged as a slogan of life for the freedom fighters during the freedom struggle.

Vande Mataram is not just a song, but a symbol of a powerful resolve that inspired countless patriots to free Hindustan from slavery during the freedom movement.

On October 1, the Central Cabinet approved countrywide celebrations on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, with the objective of promoting an effective movement that connects citizens, especially the youth and students, with the original revolutionary spirit of the song. The purpose of these celebrations is to pay tribute to this timeless message.

In an era when the nation was eager for freedom, Vande Mataram became the voice of the movement - a voice that was not only sung but lived, inhaled, and sacrificed for.

Even today, Vande Mataram is sung and played with pride and reverence in formal and informal celebrations across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that November 7, 2025, will be celebrated as the 150th anniversary of the national song as a year-long commemorative event.
