240 farmers from Darbhanga depart for training on modern sugarcane yield techniques
Patna: A one-day exposure visit and training program under the Sugarcane Technology Extension Project, launched by the Sugar Industry Department, commenced on Saturday at the auditorium in Laheria Sarai, Darbhanga. The program was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar, Minister for the Sugar Industry. On the occasion, he encouraged farmers to cultivate sugarcane, urging them to expand their cultivated area and adopt modern agricultural techniques. Minister Sanjay Kumar stated that sugarcane cultivation can serve as a significant source for increasing farmers' income. To achieve this, farmers need to acquire information on modern agricultural techniques and practice farming in a scientific manner. He encouraged farmers to advance in the field of sugarcane production and expressed his wishes for their bright future.
During the program, the Minister gave the green signal to the buses taking farmers from the Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur regions for training and visits. The objective of this initiative is to provide farmers with technical information on modern sugarcane cultivation and introduce them to modern production systems. Under this program, a total of 240 farmers have been sent for the visit, including 160 farmers from Reva Sugar Mill, Reva, Sitamarhi, and 80 farmers from Hasanpur Sugar Mill, Samastipur. During the visit, farmers will gain practical knowledge of modern sugarcane production techniques, tissue culture, quality seeds, soil testing, and modern agricultural methods. The visit to sugar mills will provide farmers with the opportunity to closely understand modern farming practices and adopt them on their own farms.
Through this initiative by the Department, farmers will be helped to gain awareness about the use of scientific methods alongside traditional farming practices. Positive outcomes are expected in improving sugarcane productivity and quality, as well as increasing farmers' income.
Joint Sugar Cane Commissioner Mr. Vedurth Kumar, Assistant Director Sugar Cane Development, Darbhanga, Program Director Mr. Ajit Kumar Prasad, Sugar Cane Officer, Darbhanga Mr. Pushkar Raj, and Indian Potash Limited Cane Head Mr. Vinod Tiwari (Reva and Shakti Sugar Mills) were present on the occasion.
