Mumbai: The Haj Committee of India, functioning under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, has invited online applications from eligible and intending pilgrims for Haj 2027. According to the committee's announcement, the process of submitting Haj Application Forms (HAF) began on June 22, 2026, and will continue until 11:59 pm on July 20, 2026.
The announcement stated that applications will only be accepted through the online mode. Intending pilgrims can submit their applications through the Haj Committee of India's website or the "Haj Suvidha" mobile app available on iOS and Android platforms.
The Haj Committee of India has clarified that the process of scrutiny and selection of applications will be entirely transparent and digital. In the last week of July 2026, the provisionally selected pilgrims will have to deposit Rs 1,52,300 per person as an advance amount by August 10, 2026. The committee has warned that no concession, extension, or relaxation will be given after the scheduled date and time, and all applicants must complete their actions within the stipulated period.
The committee has advised all applicants to carefully study the guidelines and undertakings for Haj 2027 before filling out the application form and ensure their eligibility. Any incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information may result in the rejection of the application.
It has been made mandatory to upload scanned copies of certain necessary documents along with the Haj application. These include a scanned copy of the first and last pages of the Indian international passport, which should be valid until at least December 31, 2027. Additionally, a recent colored passport-size photograph with a white background, a scanned copy of the first page of the bank passbook or a canceled check, and a certified proof of permanent residence must also be provided. The committee has clarified that only scanned documents will be accepted, while photographs taken from mobile phones will not be acceptable.
The Haj Committee of India has also emphasized that the cancellation of Haj seats creates administrative and financial difficulties, and therefore, the cancellation of allocated seats for Haj 2027 will be strictly discouraged. According to the guidelines, pilgrims who cancel their Haj seats may also be liable to pay a penalty. The committee has advised intending pilgrims to review their financial, travel, and personal preparations before submitting their applications and only apply if they are fully prepared and committed to performing the Haj.
Haj is the fifth pillar of Islam and a mandatory ritual for every able-bodied Muslim at least once in their lifetime. Every year, millions of Indian Muslims apply for this privilege. With the announcement of Haj 2027, a wave of spiritual enthusiasm has swept across the country, and guidance centers for Haj applications have become active in various cities.
The Haj Committee of India has appealed to all intending pilgrims to complete their applications as soon as possible, rather than waiting for the last date, to avoid any inconvenience due to technical issues or lack of documents.
