Union Home Minister Amit Shah accused the ruling DMK of practicing family politics, saying Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin's primary goal is to make his son and Deputy Chief Minister Udhaynidhi Stalin the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also held a roadshow in the Vasudevanallur (reserved) constituency in the southern district of Tenkasi and campaigned for BJP candidate Ananthan Ayyasamy. Mr. Shah said at a roadshow in support of BJP candidate Ms. Kirthika in the Modakurichi constituency in Erode district on Sunday that a winning alliance has been formed with the AIADMK for the April 23 assembly elections. Accusing the DMK regime of being involved in corruption, he said that after this election, as soon as the NDA government comes to power in the state, all corrupt deeds of the DMK regime will be checked and Tamil Nadu's lost pride will be restored. He also said that the law and order situation, which has deteriorated during the DMK regime, will be set right. Mr. Shah, referring to the continuation of family politics during the DMK regime, said that after the late leader Mr. M Karunanidhi, his son Mr. Stalin became the Chief Minister. Now, Mr. Stalin's son Mr. Udhaynidhi has entered electoral politics and has been promoted to the post of Deputy Chief Minister. He alleged that "Mr. Stalin's sole aim is to make his son the Chief Minister and he is working towards achieving that goal." Mr. Shah also criticized the DMK and its ally Congress for opposing the women's reservation bill that provides 33 percent reservation in Parliament and state assemblies. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a roadshow in the Vasudevanallur (reserved) constituency in the southern district of Tenkasi and campaigned for BJP candidate Ananthan Ayyasamy. A large number of people stood in lines on both sides of the road throughout the route of the roadshow from Chintamani Junction to Kamaraj Junction.
