TMC faces serious allegations of infiltration, corruption and law and order
Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released a 40-page detailed charge sheet against the Trinamool Congress government in Kolkata. Releasing the document, Union Home Minister Amit Shah claimed that it is a complete account of the Trinamool Congress's 15 years of misrule. The BJP has titled the charge sheet "Trinamool's 15 years of misrule and the cursed chapter of bloody West Bengal". It has raised several issues such as the state's security system, women's safety, economic conditions, decline in industrial development, and weakening of social fabric.
Infiltration is a major issue: The charge sheet claims that West Bengal has become a safe haven for illegal immigration. The BJP alleges that infiltration has led to an increase in crimes such as cattle smuggling and counterfeit currency. The party alleges that the Trinamool Congress is being lenient in these matters to strengthen its vote bank. Responding to this issue, Amit Shah said that the Border Security Force can stop infiltration only if the state government provides land for fencing on the border. He claimed that about 600 kilometers of land has not been fenced yet because the state government has not provided the land. He said that the central government has repeatedly contacted the state government on this issue, but no positive step has been taken. He also said that if his party forms the government in the state, the necessary land will be provided for fencing on the border and infiltration will be strictly stopped.
Trinamool Congress accused of multiple scams: In the charge sheet, the BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress of being involved in several major corruption cases. These include coal smuggling, ration distribution scam, school service commission recruitment controversy, alleged irregularities in MGNREGA works, lottery scam, irregularities in mid-day meal scheme, chit fund scam, irregularities in rural road scheme, and cattle smuggling in border areas. The BJP claims that the web of corruption has spread from the lower level to the higher level. Charges against government employees and administration: The charge sheet also states that the demands of government employees regarding dearness allowance and seventh pay commission have been ignored. The BJP claimed that due to the state government's apathy, employees are forced to work under financial and mental pressure. The BJP alleged that the rule of law has weakened in the state and political influence on the administrative system has increased. The charge sheet also states that the state police is unable to work impartially and there is an atmosphere of administrative anarchy.
Accusation of weakening the democratic system: The BJP also accused that the opposition is not given proper place in the functioning of the assembly. The charge sheet states that the opposition is not given proper representation in various committees of the assembly. The Trinamool Congress has also been accused of obstructing the process of revising the voter list. The charge sheet has also expressed concern about the safety of women in the state. It refers to incidents such as the RG Kar Hospital incident, the Sandeshkhali controversy, the Park Street incident, Kamduni, and Hanskhali, raising questions about women's safety. It also mentions issues such as human trafficking, syndicate network, the plight of tea garden workers, deterioration of health and education systems, and change in population balance. The BJP claimed that the charge sheet has been released to highlight the current situation in the state and to make the public aware of the real situation.
