Lucknow, 29 April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, the longest in Uttar Pradesh, in the Hardoi district. The Prime Minister said that just as Mother Ganga has been the lifeline of Uttar Pradesh and the country for thousands of years, the Ganga Expressway, which passes close to it, will become a new lifeline for the state's development in this modern era of development.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion of the inauguration of the Ganga Expressway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is a coincidence that I have been in the company of Mother Ganga for the last four to five days. I visited Kashi this morning. Now I have got the opportunity to inaugurate this expressway named after Mother Ganga. I am happy that the Uttar Pradesh government has named this expressway after Mother Ganga. It reflects the weight of development and a glimpse of heritage. I congratulate the crores of people of Uttar Pradesh on the Ganga Expressway.
The Prime Minister said that today is an important day for the celebration of democracy. The second phase of voting is underway in Bengal. Reports suggest that voter turnout is high in Bengal. Like the first phase, people are coming out of their homes in large numbers to cast their votes. Pictures of long queues are circulating on social media. What has not happened in the last five to six decades is happening today. People are voting without fear. This is an excellent symbol of strengthening the country's constitution and democracy. I thank the people of Bengal. There are still several hours left for voting. I appeal to the people of Bengal to participate in this festival of democracy with enthusiasm.
He said that when elections were held in Bihar some time ago, the BJP-NDA made history. Just yesterday, the results of the civic and panchayat elections were announced in Gujarat. You will be happy to know that the BJP has won 80% of the municipal and panchayat elections. During Modi's speech, a large crowd chanted 'Modi, Modi!' Modi said, "I am confident that the BJP is going to hit a hat-trick in the assembly elections in these five states. The election results to be held on May 4 will strengthen the resolve of a developed India and provide new energy to the country's development."
The Prime Minister said that for the country's development, we have to build infrastructure quickly. In December 2021, I came to Shahjahanpur to lay the foundation stone of the Ganga Expressway. Less than five years have passed. This Ganga Expressway, considered one of the longest expressways in the country, is now complete. It is being inaugurated in Hardoi today. Moreover, while the construction of the Ganga Expressway has been completed, work on its expansion has also begun. Soon the Ganga Expressway will extend from Meerut to Haridwar. This is the work of a double-engine government. This is the weight and perspective of the BJP government.
Modi said that a few days ago, he got the opportunity to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, when he said that these expressways are the handprints of a developed India, those days are gone when one had to wait for decades for a road.
Modi said that now farmers will be able to take their products to big markets. Industrial corridors are being prepared. New industrial opportunities will be created in all 12 districts. Better connectivity will open up new avenues for local industries. This will increase the income of lakhs of families. Could anyone have imagined an industrial corridor in districts like Hardoi and Anao during the tenure of previous governments? Uttar Pradesh was once considered backward. Today it is moving rapidly towards a trillion-dollar economy. Work has been underway for the past few years to achieve this weight. Thousands of crores of rupees are being invested in Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister said that half of all mobile phones made in India are made in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh's industrial development is becoming a strategic strength. BrahMos missiles are being made in Uttar Pradesh. MSME units are now responsible for making defense equipment. There were no roads earlier. Today there is a network of expressways. Earlier, it was difficult to travel to neighboring districts. Today airports are being built. He said that films used to be made about the mafia of UP. Today, law and order is being cited as an example. The Samajwadi Party (SP) does not like this development. The Samajwadi Party (SP) is not only anti-development but also anti-women. They opposed the Women's Reservation Amendment Bill in Parliament. They will always do anti-women politics. This is against development.
On this occasion, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister of State for Finance and Uttar Pradesh BJP President Pankaj Choudhary, Union Minister of State Jatin Prasad, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak, Ministers Suresh Khanna, Nand Gopal Gupta, Nand Gopala and others were present.
