On Sunday, at dawn, the Middle East's atmosphere was once again filled with tension when Iran launched missile attacks on various areas of Israel. This situation emerged at a time when the Iranian delegate to the United Nations Security Council's emergency meeting hinted at continuing to respond to US and Israeli military actions. The fresh attacks have deepened the ongoing tensions in the region and the situation appears to be entering a new phase.
According to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath's correspondent, missiles were fired towards Israel, after which warning sirens sounded. The Israeli military also confirmed that more missiles were fired from Iran. It was further reported that after Home Front warnings, Israeli citizens spent their entire day in shelters. The downing of a missile over Jerusalem was also confirmed. This development came as the Israeli ambulance service announced that 121 people were injured in Tel Aviv as a result of the missile strikes, while there were also reports of an Israeli woman being killed.
Israeli media reported that an Iranian missile hit near the Israeli Ministry of Defense (the Kirya) in Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, warning sirens continued to sound in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, Dan Block, Ashdod, Shafela, and Yavne, where consecutive explosions were heard. On the other hand, the Iranian news agency "Tasnim" claimed, citing its sources, that more than 90% of the Iranian missiles fired towards Israel hit their targets.
Earlier reports had stated that Iran used "Fattah" hypersonic missiles in its operations. It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump announced earlier in the week that the US military was launching a large-scale military operation against Iran, targeting its nuclear and missile programs, as well as destroying the Iranian navy. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel and the US had launched a joint operation to eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian regime.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (Sepah-e-Pasdaran) announced a large-scale retaliatory operation, confirming that missiles and drones were fired from Iran at Tel Aviv and US bases in the region.
