Iran's state media has targeted Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir, accusing him of "playing a double game" and saying that Islamabad maintains parallel relations with Iran while leaning towards the United States. The allegations, made during a television debate broadcast by Iran's state media this week, have exposed a serious breach of trust between the two neighbors, coming at a time when Pakistan is trying to establish itself as a key mediator between the US and Iran. The TV debate discussed the ignoring of Iranian proposals.
General Munir recently visited Iran, where a 10-point negotiating proposal was presented to the US, but so far, there has been no response, acceptance, or commitment. Iranian analysts have also accused Pakistan of ignoring the proposal and is now trying to impose 15 to 16 new conditions on Iran on behalf of the US, which raises questions about its stance.
An analyst on SNN stated bluntly, "According to our plan, Asim Munir came to Iran and received our message, which was to be conveyed to the American side, he must have done so, but as far as I know, and we have spoken at the highest level, we have not yet received any response as to whether this message has been accepted or not. I will also say that if a response is received from Islamabad, they will respond, and I will say the same on the other side." "Okay, I don't accept it at all."
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump recently announced an extension of the ceasefire, saying that this move was made at the request of General Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He had previously warned that if an agreement was not reached, military action would be taken. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the decision, calling it a step that would expand ongoing diplomatic efforts and confirming that the next round of negotiations would take place in Pakistan, although no date has been announced.
Meanwhile, Iranian media dismissed these developments as a public relations strategy by Pakistan, claiming that the actual negotiating process is stalled and only progress is being created.
In a message posted on social media, the US President said that the Pakistani leadership had asked us not to attack Iran, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir had asked us to stop the attack until the Iranian leadership's consensus proposals arrive. The US President said that the ceasefire is being extended until the negotiating process is completed, so the ceasefire will continue until proposals are presented by Iran.
President Trump stated that he had instructed his military to continue the blockade and be prepared in every way. On the other hand, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mahdi Mohammadi rejected US President Donald Trump's announcement of an extension of the ceasefire. Mahdi Mohammadi posted a message on social media, saying that this announcement has no significance, and the ongoing blockade against Iran is equivalent to bombing, and its response should be given in the form of military action.
