Amidst the deepening impacts of the West Asia crisis, state-owned oil marketing companies in the country have announced a hefty increase in commercial LPG prices. In Delhi, a 19-kg gas commercial cylinder has become Rs 993 costlier.
The price of a commercial LPG cylinder, commonly used in hotels and restaurants, has seen a record increase of Rs 993 at one go. Including local taxes, its price in Delhi has now risen from Rs 2,078.50 to Rs 3,071.50. Earlier, there was an increase of Rs 195.50 per cylinder on April 1 and Rs 114.50 per cylinder on March 1. Along with this, there has been a total increase of Rs 1,303 in the last three months.
The global supply of oil and gas has been affected since the US and Israel's attack on Iran in February, and prices are on the rise. The government has currently not allowed the prices of diesel and petrol to increase through fiscal adjustments. The increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders has also been limited.
