Talks under the shadow of threats are unacceptable: Speaker

Awaz E Bihar•21 April 2026 at 03:51 pm•3 views•4 min read

Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Qalibaf has categorically stated that we do not accept negotiations with threats in any way.
In a message posted on social media, Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Qalibaf said that Trump is trying to turn the negotiating table into a 'surrender table'. The Iranian Parliament Speaker said that by blockading the Strait of Hormuz and violating the ceasefire, President Trump is deceiving himself and thinks that he will turn the negotiating table into a surrender table or justify a new war.
Qalibaf clarified that results are not achieved through the tactic of pressure at the negotiating table, Iran does not accept the offer of negotiations under the shadow of threats. Over the past two weeks, Iran has prepared itself to show new cards in the battlefield. Meanwhile, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in an interview that the United States has no choice but to abandon its excessive demands and fully respect the rights of the Iranian people. He said that the United States has seen war and may think that it can achieve something by taking the path of war, but the only solution to this crisis is diplomacy.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said in a weekly press briefing that the United States is not serious about negotiations with Iran and warned that if past mistakes are repeated, Iran will take decisive retaliatory action. Iran has conditioned negotiations with the United States on the end of the naval blockade after the US attack and seizure of a ship.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, describing the US proposals as unserious and demands as unrealistic, said that the transfer of nuclear materials out of Iran has never been part of the negotiations.
Trump has once again threatened that if no agreement is reached, a massive military attack on Iran could be launched. According to reports, the delegations of the United States and Iran are planning to visit Pakistan for a possible second round of negotiations. According to CNBC, an unstable ceasefire is nearing its end, and the war of words between the United States and Iran has intensified, with both sides hardening their stance before a second attempt at a peace agreement.
Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf expressed a strong reaction on Tuesday, criticizing the US President. He said that Trump wants to turn the negotiating table into a surrender table, he is turning the negotiating table into a surrender table in his imagination, and Trump wants to justify war again by doing so. Ghalibaf also hinted that Iran has a new advantage in this tension. He said, "Over the past two weeks, we have prepared to show new cards in the battlefield," but did not elaborate and said, "We do not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats."
These strong statements come as Trump has again threatened that if no agreement is reached, a massive military attack on Iran could be launched and many bombs could start falling. The situation of further peace talks and the current relationship between the two countries is becoming increasingly unclear, as Trump sometimes makes tough war statements and sometimes expresses willingness for further negotiations with Iran.
Former US Ambassador to Oman Mark Seavers said on CNBC's Access Middle East program on Monday, "This is the last chance to get an agreement before the ceasefire ends, and warned that if Trump acts on his threat of military action against Iran's power plants and bridges, the situation could become serious.
It is clear that in an interview with Bloomberg on Monday, Trump said that the ceasefire would end on Wednesday evening "Washington time".
