US Enters 'Economic D-Day' Against Iran: Besant

Awaz E Bihar•24 August 2026 at 04:01 pm•12 views•2 min read

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has said that the United States has entered an "economic D-Day" against Iran. Besant said in a statement released by American social media platform X that "President Donald Trump has destroyed Iran's military capabilities, destroyed nearly 100 percent of its military factories and buried its nuclear program." He added that "we are now entering the final phase." An economic D-Day is beginning at dawn. This, against an enemy, is the largest financial operation ever." Our goal is to sever every economic artery that supports this oppressive regime until Tehran is isolated."
He also warned pro-Iranian governments and other parties to avoid assuming that the United States will pardon those who challenge Washington's Iran policy. Besant added that "the Islamic Republic has maintained its existence by hiding blackmail under the guise of security guarantees." It has been strengthened by the idea of Iran's sure retaliation and the possibility of negotiating US sanctions. This series has ended under President Trump. Those who fear the threat of antagonizing Tehran should not underestimate the value of testing Washington.
In his post, Besant did not provide any details about the specific economic measures that would be implemented under the planned action or the institutions that would be included. It should be noted that Treasury Secretary Scott Besant issued this statement after the Trump administration claimed that Iran's military and nuclear capabilities had been destroyed.
