The United States has launched new military strikes against Iran, damaging the power infrastructure, port facilities, and a hospital in the southeastern port city of Chabahar. Reports of attacks and explosions have also emerged from other parts of the country's southern and northern regions.
According to Iranian media, Wednesday's strikes destroyed three power transmission lines in Chabahar, disrupting electricity supply to nearly half of the city. Fragments of a missile also fell on the Imam Ali Hospital during the attack. The Tasnim news agency, citing eyewitnesses, reported that approximately 10 explosions were heard in Chabahar and the nearby city of Konarak. Iran's state broadcasting agency, IRIB, said the attacks also damaged the Shahid Beheshti Port, the Kalantari Port, and the maritime traffic control tower in Chabahar, resulting in a power outage in half of the city.
The managing director of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province Electricity Distribution Company stated that two of the affected power lines have been restored, and repair work is underway on the third line. Meanwhile, in the city of Iranshahr, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, a person was killed when a missile hit the local airport. The victim was identified as Khaled Qadri, a duty officer at the Iranshahr airport's meteorology department. Local authorities reported four powerful explosions in the city.
Tasnim, citing unconfirmed reports, said that the US fighter jets also targeted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy's Imam Ali Naval Base in Chabahar. Iranian media reported explosions in several other regions of southern Iran. State media said multiple blasts occurred in Bandar Abbas and Sirik, and the coastal air defense units in Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island targeted enemy objectives. Explosions were also heard on Abu Musa Island, Jask, and in the city of Choghadak, Bushehr Province.
Additionally, a local IRGC unit said that US cruise missiles targeted areas around the Aq Tappeh Khan Bridge in Aq Qala County, Golestan Province, northern Iran. US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that a military operation against Iran was launched at the order of President Donald Trump, with the declared objective of weakening Iran's ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.
Mohsen Rezaei, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Majtaba Khamenei, strongly condemned the attacks, saying, "The enemy and its allies will be severely punished." Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Iran has accused the US of violating a ceasefire and a memorandum of understanding brokered by Pakistan last month. The Iranian armed forces have retaliated against US military bases in the region in response to the US attacks.
The IRGC claimed to have launched missile and drone attacks on 85 US military bases and targets in Bahrain and Kuwait. These include the Port of Salman in Bahrain and areas associated with the US Fifth Fleet, as well as Kuwait's Ali Al-Salem Air Base. The IRGC also claimed to have downed a US MQ-9 drone.
