US President Trump lashes out at Defense Secretary over shortage of ammunition for war against Iran: American newspaper

Awaz E Bihar•6 August 2026 at 04:16 pm•22 views•3 min read

US President Donald Trump's frustration and anger over the war with Iran have come to the forefront. According to an American newspaper, last week at Camp David, Trump asked Defense Secretary Pat Hegseth to explain why he was misled about the severe shortage of ammunition, which has now limited military options against Iran.

Two individuals familiar with the conversation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Washington Post that the incident occurred during a cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday. President Trump expressed his anger to the defense secretary, saying he thought the ammunition issue had been resolved.

According to sources, the shortage of guided missiles that can strike at long range and air defense interceptors are among the reasons why President Trump has refrained from launching a larger attack against Iran in recent days. When President Trump criticized the defense secretary over the empty arsenal, Hegseth defended himself, blaming his deputy, Stephen Fanningberg, for the shortage and for not keeping the president fully informed.

The incident has highlighted President Trump's growing frustration with the defense secretary, and according to several officials, Hegseth was among the first to strongly support military action against Iran and had assured Trump that it would be a quick and relatively easy victory.

On the other hand, the White House and the Pentagon have strongly denied these claims. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Lew told The Washington Post that "this is a 100% false story, this incident never happened, President Trump has full confidence in Secretary Hegseth." Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said, "Secretary Hegseth has not misled anyone about the ammunition situation, and he has not blamed his deputy secretary, Stephen Fanningberg. The claims about the shortage of ammunition, internal differences, and Hegseth's stance on Iran are completely fabricated."

US President Donald Trump says the US has a large amount of weapons and ammunition. In a statement, Donald Trump said that a large amount of weapons is also being manufactured and ordered as needed. He said defense companies are building a record number of plants and factories.

Donald Trump says those who leak treasonous statements will be found and given long sentences. It is clear that the US media, The Washington Post, had said that during the Iran war, US President Donald Trump had asked Defense Secretary Pat Hegseth to explain the shortage of weapons, but the authorities have denied this claim by the US media.

According to The Washington Post, the US President had asked the Defense Secretary to explain the shortage of weapons, which had limited military options against Iran. A report by the US media claims that President Trump asked Defense Secretary Hegseth about the severe shortage of ammunition during a cabinet meeting at Camp David in Maryland last week, which had limited potential military options against Iran.
