Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has "targeted US planes at Aqaba airport in Jordan during multiple heavy ballistic missile attacks". According to the Revolutionary Guards, they have fired ballistic missiles at US C-17 military cargo planes and P-8 surveillance planes at Aqaba airport, resulting in significant damage to several planes. In a statement released by Iran's state-run broadcasting agency, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), the IRGC also claimed that 20 US military hangars at Jordan's Al-Azraq airbase were destroyed. According to Mehr news agency, a US MQ-9 drone was shot down over the city of Islamabad-e-Gharb in Iran's western province of Kermanshah. Mehr reported that the drone was targeted by an advanced air defense system linked to Iran's integrated air defense network, used by the IRGC's Aerospace Force. Meanwhile, semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that the Revolutionary Guards announced that two oil tankers exploded and were halted in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz last night. The Revolutionary Guards said the vessels were attempting to pass through the vital waterway, which is a sign of "US pressure". The Revolutionary Guards warned that "this route is neither secure for the transportation of chemical fertilizers nor for the transportation of a single drop of oil and gas, as long as the US continues its military operations in the region, the security of this waterway cannot be guaranteed". On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran is using the Strait of Hormuz as a weapon to intimidate, and therefore other countries should take "practical actions" on the matter. Rubio added that the US is still willing to pursue a diplomatic solution with Iran.
