Soon, 10,000 farmers will be provided with free fish farming training.

The Bihar government is continuously striving to promote fish farming in the state. In this regard, fish farmers in the state are being trained in modern techniques. This training is provided not only within the state but also at renowned institutions across the country. So far, thousands of fish farmers have been trained.

Through this training, they are introduced to the latest fish farming techniques used in the country and around the world. They are taught how to produce better quality fish at lower costs by utilizing the most advanced scientific techniques. The objective of the fishery training and extension scheme is to train the state's fish farmers in the latest fishing techniques and modern fish farming methods, thereby increasing their fish production and annual income. This training is completely free. No additional fees are charged to beneficiaries apart from the registration fee. This training is benefiting the state's fish production, which is continuously increasing, and bringing economic prosperity to the lives of farmers engaged in this profession.

Continuing this initiative, the State Department of Animal and Fishery Resources has decided to provide free fish farming training to 9,685 farmers in the financial year 2026-27. Applications have been invited under the 'Fisheries Training and Extension Scheme' for this purpose. Under this program, 9,685 fish farmers/fishers will be trained in 332 batches at renowned fisheries institutions located within and outside the state.

To promote fish production and trade, free modern training has been provided to 70,221 fish farmers at fishery institutions within and outside the state. Of these, 52,485 fish farmers were trained within the state and 17,726 at institutions outside the state.
