The Aravali hills are completely safe: Bhupendra Yadav
Union Minister of Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav has dispelled the doubts being raised about the Aravali mountain range in four states, saying the Aravali hills are completely safe.
Alwar Lok Sabha member Bhupender Yadav, in a letter 'A letter to Alwar' addressed to the public on Tuesday, said he is giving this message to dispel the misconceptions being spread about Aravali. He said Alwar is also an integral part of the Aravali mountain range, where natural heritage like Sariska Tiger Reserve and Siliserh Lake exist.
He assured the public of the area, saying Aravali is completely safe and the Supreme Court's decision is to ensure comprehensive protection of Aravali, stop illegal mining, and allow legal mining outside protected areas under environmental standards to benefit local people and promote economic development of the area while keeping in mind environmental protection.
In fact, the parameter adopted by the court to define Aravali, according to which any land or hill more than 100 meters above the local level will be considered Aravali, and the standard already in force in Rajasthan, which was formulated based on the report of a committee set up in 2002 during the tenure of then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, are in harmony with each other.
On this basis, even today in Rajasthan, mining is banned in Aravali hills with a height of more than 100 meters.
Mr. Yadav said most people have not studied the court's decision in depth, and taking advantage of this, some people are spreading misconceptions about Aravali and its future, contrary to facts.
Mr. Yadav said it is also necessary to know that the hills with a height of more than 100 meters will not be considered Aravali hills only from the peak to the ground but all the land structures coming under them will also be included in the Aravali hills.
He said the impression that 90 percent of the hill range will be destroyed due to the new standard adopted for Aravali is completely baseless. In fact, more than 90 percent of the Aravali area will remain protected under this standard.
He said the claim that 90 percent of the hill range will be destroyed due to the new standard adopted for Aravali is baseless. The fact is that under this standard, more than 90 percent of the Aravali area will remain protected.
As far as mining is concerned, according to the court's decision, no illegal mining will be regularized.
In his letter, he wrote, I want to assure that I was born in the lap of Aravali, and I was raised near this mountain range. I have always been committed to the protection and promotion of Aravali and will remain so.
