Chief Minister Shri Smriti Irani inaugurated the program organized by the Department of Buildings on the first floor of Bapu Tower, located in Garden, on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary and the second foundation day of Bapu Tower, by lighting a lamp. On this occasion, he unveiled a life-size statue of Mahatma Gandhi, crafted by renowned ceramic artist Padma Shri awardee Shri Brahmadeo Pandit, located on the ground floor of Bapu Tower. The Chief Minister launched the online ticketing system for the convenience of tourists visiting Bapu Tower and released the magazine "Satyagraha" published by Bapu Tower.
On this occasion, while paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Minister appealed to adopt his principles of truth, non-violence, love, and service in one's life. He stated that Mahatma Gandhi was the greatest proponent of truth, non-violence, and love. Through his ideology, moral strength, and exceptional determination, he gave a new direction to the country's freedom movement. Wearing only a dhoti, he challenged the British government and united the country's people for freedom.
The Chief Minister said that Bapu Tower is a significant center for understanding the life, ideology, struggle, and historical journey of Mahatma Gandhi. This monument presents various stages of Bapu's life and the diverse facets of his personality through modern technology. It will play a crucial role in introducing future generations to Gandhi's ideology and his services.
The Chief Minister stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is moving forward with the resolve to build a developed India. Former Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar has set the goal of building a prosperous Bihar. Mahatma Gandhi's dream was also for India to establish its unique identity on the global stage and write a new chapter of development and prosperity. While adopting Gandhi's principles, we all must fulfill our responsibility in building a developed India and a prosperous Bihar.
While mentioning the efforts being made in the state for development, environmental protection, and the energy sector, the Chief Minister said that the target is to generate approximately 500 crore rupees in revenue by scientifically managing the waste of Patna. A Green Hydrogen Policy has also been prepared in the state. He stated that a subsidy of 5,500 crore rupees is being provided by the state government for agricultural federations. Work is also being done to run agricultural federations on solar energy, which will help in providing uninterrupted electricity to farmers and reduce the government's expenditure in the energy sector.
The Chief Minister said that Bihar is also establishing its unique identity in the fields of education, culture, and heritage today. Experts and consultants from Bihar are being engaged for the construction of international-standard museums at various places in the country. This reflects the state's growing expertise and its role in the field of preserving cultural heritage.
He said that the state government is committed to providing quality education to students. A fee of just 10 rupees has been fixed for students in all 38 engineering colleges of Bihar. 700 model schools are being run in the state, where approximately 350,000 students are studying. Students of these schools have been provided with the facility of 24-hour online tutoring through the "Vidyarthi Sathi App" to provide continuous support in their education.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, stating that the lives of Gandhi and Shastri convey the message of simplicity, righteousness, duty, and service to the country.
The Chief Minister said that Gandhi's ideology is not just to be remembered but to be implemented in one's character and actions. On this occasion, let us all pledge to adopt the values of truth, non-violence, cleanliness, service, and social harmony to make the country and Bihar better, prosperous, and developed.
BJP State President and MLA Shri Sanjay Sarangi and Secretary of the Department of Buildings Mr. Prano Kumar also addressed the program.
On this occasion, artists associated with the "Prevaartan" group presented a musical performance filled with Gandhi bhajans and folk songs. The artists effectively presented the principles, life values, and message of truth and non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi through their performance.
Secretary of the Department of Buildings Mr. Prano Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a bouquet, a shawl, and a memento.
