30 Indian ships carrying oil, gas and fertilizer depart from Bandar Abbas, over 20 waiting to depart

Following the recent agreement between Iran and the US, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important waterways, appears to be returning to normal. It is reported that so far, 30 Indian ships have safely passed through this strategic sea route, while 26 other ships are still waiting to pass through the Gulf region.

Of the 30 ships that have passed through the Strait of Hormuz, nearly half were carrying energy products such as LPG and LNG. In addition, 8 ships carried bulk cargo and 7 ships carried crude oil to India. Among these 30 ships, 17 foreign-flagged containers were also included, with the majority of 5 ships flying the flag of the Marshall Islands.

Citing sources from the Ministry of Shipping, a report by the Times of India stated that 26 Indian ships currently in the Persian Gulf are carrying 3 energy products, 10 fertilizers, and 13 other goods, and are waiting to pass safely. According to reports, between March 1 and June 17, 19 ships had crossed the Strait of Hormuz. However, after the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last week, 11 more ships have safely passed through the strait in just a few days, indicating that maritime activities are gradually returning to normal.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered a lifeline for the global energy supply, with nearly 20% of the world's oil and gas supply passing through this route. This waterway is also crucial for India, as the country imports a significant portion of its LNG and LPG requirements from Gulf countries. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran in response to US and Israeli attacks during the war in Western Asia had caused significant turmoil in the global energy market, resulting in increased oil prices and disrupted shipping.

However, with the ongoing US-Iran talks in Switzerland and efforts to reach a ceasefire, signs of relief are emerging in the market. According to maritime tracking data, the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly doubled in the past 24 hours, reaching its highest level since late February. Meanwhile, US oil prices have also fallen to their lowest level since the start of the war. Experts believe that if the US-Iran talks are successful and the Strait of Hormuz remains fully open, it could provide significant relief to the global energy market and maritime trade. Currently, the world is watching the talks in Switzerland and the security situation in the Gulf region.
