Patna, September 23: (ABN) Two new universities will be established in the capital Patna and Begusarai. Mata Sita Mahila University in Patna and Ram Dhari Singh Dunkari University in Begusarai are about to open. Their establishment has been decided under the Bihar Special University Act, 2026. On Wednesday, the Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary approved the proposals regarding his establishment. A total of 24 agendas were approved. Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department, Mr. Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, gave detailed information about the decisions taken in the Cabinet meeting in a press conference held in the auditorium of the Information Building. Additional Chief Secretary said that all other affiliated lady colleges and affiliated lady colleges of Patna district will come under the influence of Mata Sita Women's University except women's colleges of Patna University. Besides, it will cover affiliated colleges in Begusarai and Khagaria districts under Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University at Begusarai. However, the colleges under Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University in Darbhanga and its affiliated colleges will not be covered under this scheme. 15 crores have been released for salaries of officers and employees in these two universities, among others. 99.39 acres of land in Makanpur Mauza of Waris Aliganj area of Nawada district has been transferred free of charge to the Sugar Cane Industry Department for setting up a sugar mill. The Chief Minister tweeted that this would result in an investment of over Rs 500 crore. This will directly benefit thousands of farmers in Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhupura and Jamui. In another cabinet decision, cattle farmers will get 100% subsidy on bank loan interest under the Chief Minister Cow Development Loan Scheme, for which farmers will have to repay only the principal amount. Loan installments will be deducted from milk sales, and COMFED will act as guarantor. This will increase milk production through better cows and buffaloes. Another important decision is to provide 100% subsidy assistance in Spool, Madhepura and Saharsa districts to promote milk production and dairy activities in the region and increase the income of milk producers. This scheme is covered under seven headings. It will enable modern yogurt and premium ice cream points, milk chilling plants, formation of 500 new milk cooperatives, and other initiatives. In addition, an integrated fisheries and aquaculture development project will be implemented in Siwan's Basantpur, Bhagwanpur Haat, and Goriya Kothi blocks using a loan from NABARD. 33.68 crore has been sanctioned for strengthening the District Police, Railway Police, Bihar Special Armed Police, and Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau as well as procurement of equipment and accessories for public buildings. Additionally, funds have been sanctioned for the purchase of 50 drones for crowd control and management, anti-Naxal or crime operations, disaster management and other such functions under Centrally Sponsored Assistance to States and Union Territories for the Police Modernization Scheme. The proposal aims to enhance security and surveillance, help in disaster management and control crime by using drone technology in various police operations. Bihar Water Resources Development Corporation Limited will be set up under the Department of Water Resources to undertake non-conventional projects including use of surface water for drinking purposes. The company was established as an autonomous, professional and result-oriented institutional mechanism within the Department of Water Resources to ensure modern water management and long-term water security.
