On World Tourism Day, the minister outlined major development projects including employment, economy

Bihar's thousands of years old heritage will now be seen to be in harmony with modern technology. From temples and historical assets to scenic spots, the tourism experience is ever-changing. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology, heli-tourism and modern tourism facilities, the work is going on rapidly to establish a new identity of Bihar not only in the country but also on the global tourism map. These things were said by the Minister of Tourism Department Mr. Kedar Prasad Gupta on the occasion of World Tourism Day. He said that development in the tourism sector in the digital era is impossible without the use of AI and advanced technology. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary, the state government is working extensively to link tourism with growth, employment and local economy. More than 6.62 million tourist arrivals in Bihar in 2025 shows the growing potential of the region. 1,301 crore rupees in the financial year 2025-26 for the development of tourism and 36 priority projects worth Rs 2,710 crore under Pragati Yatra 2025 have been approved.
Several major projects are taking shape to connect Bihar's religious tourist destinations with world-class amenities. A magnificent temple of Maa Sita is being constructed at Panura Dham in Sitamarhi. At the same time, Vishnupad temple corridor is being developed in Gayaji at a cost of 2500 crores and Hariharnath temple corridor is being developed at a cost of more than 680 crores in Sonepur. Development of religious and historical sites like Baba Gharib Nath Temple, Ashok Dham and Ahaliya Asthan is also underway. These projects aim not only to beautify the temples but also to enhance tourism facilities, transportation, employment and local economic activities in the surrounding areas. Several schemes are being implemented to modernize the tourism experience in Bihar. At a cost of Rs 165 crore, a Buddhist meditation and experience center is being developed at Bodh Gaya, a glass bridge over Matsigandha Lake at Saharsa and a Love Kush Park at Valmiki Nagar. Emphasis is also being put on expanding facilities like five-star hotels in Patna, Rajgir and Vaishali.
Heli tourism is being promoted for tourists. Plans have been drawn up for air travel as well as air ambulance service to places like Patna Darshan, Nalanda and Valmiki Nagar. The planned ropeway from Patna's Atalpath to Hariharnath Temple will also add a new dimension to the tourism experience.
To link tourism to local income and employment, around 1000 rooms are being developed around 34 tourist destinations under the Chief Minister Homestay Scheme.
For this, financial assistance of up to Rs 1.1 million per unit is being provided to the beneficiaries. The tourism policy aims to provide skill training to 100,000 people and create more than 2 million employment opportunities in the next five years. A capital subsidy of 25 to 30 percent has also been provided to attract private investment.
At the event, Mr. Nand Kishore, Managing Director, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation said that AI has the potential to change the entire tourism landscape.
By analyzing tourists' preferences, searches and travel data, information about tourist attractions, hotels, food and drinks and other facilities can be provided according to their needs. Robotics and language technology will also make it possible to provide assistance to tourists from countries such as China, Japan and Korea in their own languages. The use of such technologies at airports and major tourist destinations such as Bodhgaya can enhance the tourist experience.
The event concluded with a captivating cultural performance. The artists brought to life the rich folk traditions, art, culture and heritage of Bihar through their performances. Songs, music and cultural programs delighted the hearts of the guests and the audience. The performance also showcased Bihar's diverse cultural heritage and rich tradition of folk art. At the end of the function the guests appreciated the performance of the artists. BIA President Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director of Your Heritage were present on the occasion.
