Patna (ABN) Amidst the major upheaval in Bihar's politics, preparations for the expansion of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's cabinet have entered the final stages. The historic Gandhi Maidan in the capital Patna is being decorated like a bride for this grand ceremony, where the arrival of top leaders of the BJP and JD(U) is expected.
According to sources, the ceremony will be attended by several key figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A large number of senior officials have set up camp at Gandhi Maidan to oversee security and other arrangements. A grand stage has been set up in the western part of the field, with three large water-proof pandals in front of it. Seats have been allocated for members of the assembly and senior leaders. Separate galleries have been built for dignitaries and journalists.
In anticipation of a large crowd, a vast area has been enclosed with bamboo and wood, where laborers are busy with painting work. Water tankers are being used to sprinkle water across the entire field to prevent dust, and sanitation staff are working day and night to remove trash. A worker present at the site told the media, "It seems like the old days of Gandhi Maidan have returned. All the roads leading to Gandhi Maidan have been colored with political hues. Large hoardings and banners are erected everywhere, featuring images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar."
Notably, Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar is expected to be inducted into the cabinet as a new face. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Patna on Wednesday evening to attend the swearing-in ceremony, where he was given a warm welcome.
On the other hand, the administration is facing challenges due to continuous rain in the state for the past two days, resulting in water accumulation at Gandhi Maidan. The administration is making efforts to drain the water, but intermittent rain is causing further difficulties. While the administration is working tirelessly to remove the water, the rain is also putting a damper on their efforts. It remains to be seen what the weather will be like in the morning.
