Patna, 2 May (ABN) Patna District Magistrate Dr. Thyagarajan SM on Saturday inaugurated the first phase (house listing and housing count) of the 'Census 2027' from Ramji Chak area of 'Danapur Nagar Panchayat'. On this occasion, the District Magistrate, terming it a historic and proud moment for the district, said that this initiative will provide a strong foundation for future development plans. He said that the census is not just a process of collecting numbers, but it is the most important means of policy-making for organization and administration. Only on the basis of accurate and up-to-date data can the government ensure effective implementation of projects related to education, health, infrastructure, and social welfare.
To run the census work smoothly and efficiently, Patna district has been divided into two administrative units. The responsibility of the Patna Municipal Corporation area has been entrusted to the Municipal Commissioner, while the remaining district, including rural areas and other municipal bodies, has 40 charges, the responsibility of which is being handled by the District Magistrate himself as the 'Chief Census Officer'. Extensive preparations have been made in the district for the successful conduct of the census. A total of 8,114 house listing blocks (HLB) have been created to ensure that every household in the district is covered.
For ground-level data collection, 7,963 enumerators have been appointed. These enumerators will visit door-to-door to collect necessary information from citizens. Along with this, 1,343 supervisors have been appointed, who will oversee the work of enumerators and ensure quality. To handle any emergency situation, a 'reserve pool' of 899 enumerators and 154 supervisors has also been prepared. This pool will help maintain continuity of work and provide immediate alternatives in any emergency.
The District Magistrate said that 'Census 2027' is the country's first fully digital census. This time, modern technology is being used on a large scale, which will make the process of data collection, compilation, and analysis fast, accurate, and transparent. He said that one of the key features of this census is the 'self-enumeration' facility, through which citizens can enter their information online on the portal. In Patna district, this initiative has received overwhelming support. So far, more than 2.5 lakh families have entered their information through the self-enumeration portal.
The District Magistrate appealed to the citizens to share their reference number with the enumerator if they have completed the self-enumeration. This will make the data verification process faster and easier. Regarding the confidentiality of the information provided by citizens during the census, the District Magistrate assured that all data will be kept completely secure and will be used only for the formulation of government policies and development plans. He also clarified that no personal information of any individual will be made public. Modern technical measures have been taken to protect the data, which eliminates the possibility of misuse of information.
The District Magistrate said that the data obtained from the census will be helpful in preparing various development plans in the future. Based on this data, the proper development of hospitals, schools, roads, drinking water, and other basic amenities in the area will be ensured. He said that with the availability of accurate data, better allocation of resources will be possible, and plans can be made according to the needs of each area. At the conclusion of the program, the District Magistrate appealed to the media and the general public to play an active role in making this national campaign a success. He said that the census is a collective effort, in which the participation of every citizen is essential. He appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the enumerators, provide correct and accurate information, and avoid any kind of rumors.
