Amidst the deepening effects of the West Asia crisis, state-owned oil marketing companies in the country have announced a hefty hike in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders.
In Delhi, the 19-kg commercial gas cylinder has become costlier by Rs 993. The price of the commercial LPG cylinder, commonly used in hotels and restaurants, has seen a record increase of Rs 993 in one go. Including local taxes, its price in Delhi has now risen from Rs 2,078.50 to Rs 3,071.50.
This is the fourth increase in the price of commercial LPG cylinders since the West Asia crisis began on February 28. Previously, there was an increase of Rs 195.50 on April 1, Rs 114.50 on March 7, and Rs 28 per cylinder on March 1. With this, there has been a total increase of Rs 1,331 in two months. There has been no change in the price of the 14-kg domestic LPG cylinder. It saw an increase of Rs 60 after 11 months on March 7. Currently, its price is Rs 913 per cylinder in Delhi.
The global supply of oil and gas has been affected since the US and Israel's attack on Iran in February, and prices are on the rise. The government has so far not allowed the prices of diesel and petrol to rise through fiscal adjustments. The increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders has also been limited.
