Congress leader Tariq Anwar on Friday urged the government in the Lok Sabha to take immediate measures to compensate for the damage to crops in Bihar's Seemanchal region, particularly in Katihar district, due to recent hailstorms and torrential rains. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr. Tariq Anwar said that the heavy rainfall in Seemanchal has caused significant damage to crops. Wheat, maize, vegetables, and fruits, especially mango crops, have been severely damaged. He urged the government to provide immediate financial assistance to the affected farmers, take steps to rehabilitate those displaced by the disaster, and provide adequate financial assistance to the families of the deceased. He emphasized that proper arrangements should be made for the treatment of the injured. Rajesh Verma of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) drew the government's attention to the low weight of grains provided under the free ration scheme, saying that instead of five kilograms per person, eligible individuals receive only four or four and a half kilograms. Ration shop owners provide low weight and do not supply the full quantity of grains. Sometimes, beneficiaries receive substandard rations. He demanded that the Food Corporation supply grains in five-kilogram packets instead of bags, so that deserving people can get standard, full grains. Independent MP Mohammed Hanifha urged the government to play an active role in ending the war between Israel, the US, and Iran, saying that India has always been a supporter of peace and mutual coexistence. The country has always stood by everyone in times of crisis. The world looks to India with hope in every crisis. He said that this war has created an energy crisis worldwide, and there is a shortage of gas in the country, forcing people to stand in long queues. In such a situation, India should play an active role in ending the war.
