Dabang Delhi to face struggling Lucknow

Awaz E Bihar•21 April 2026 at 05:15 pm•0 views•4 min read

Rajasthan Royals will enter this crucial IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants with tremendous confidence, and rightly so. Their cricket has been driven by fearless young batting and a balanced bowling attack, which has often performed well. On the other hand, Lucknow returns to their home ground under considerable pressure, seeking rhythm and consistency after a string of disappointing results.

This match, in many ways, is a classic contrast in style, with Rajasthan's daring youth-driven approach on one side and Lucknow, who are desperately trying to prevent their season from slipping further into crisis at home. Lucknow has won only two of their six matches so far and are currently on a three-match losing streak. Although they have produced some quality individual moments, they have not been able to put in a complete performance as a unit. This has been their biggest concern.

On the other hand, Rajasthan has won four of their six matches. Although they have faced some recent setbacks, their overall structure, balance, and form still look stronger than their opponents going into this match.

For Lucknow, the batting unit has been a major worry. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram have provided good starts but have not converted these into big, match-winning partnerships. Nicholas Pooran is having a tough season, struggling with timing and consistency in the middle order.

Captain Rishabh Pant has shown intent with some impressive cameos, but the commanding innings that would truly anchor the team have not come this season. Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni have chipped in occasionally, but they too lack consistency.

In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami has yet to find his best, while Avesh Khan has been consistent. Ravi Bishnoi and Dushmantha Chameera have contributed in patches. However, Prince Yadav has been a good performer with control and timely breakthroughs. Ayush Badoni is also an important option to add depth to the batting.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan has benefited significantly from their top order. Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as a true breakout star, playing with complete freedom and attacking intent, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has provided stability and maturity at the top.

Dhruv Jurel has settled well into the number three role, and Ryan Parag leads the team with balance and strategic awareness. Shimron Hetmyer and Donovan Ferreira effectively strengthen the finishing department.

Ravindra Jadeja brings all-round control and experience, while bowling has been their biggest strength. Jofra Archer gets them early breakthroughs with the new ball, Nandre Burger supports him with pace and movement, and Ravi Bishnoi has been their most reliable wicket-taker in the middle overs. Bhagath Varma adds depth to the attack.

The pitch at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium is expected to slow down, which will assist the spinners. The average first-innings score here is around 173, and as the match progresses, batting becomes more challenging due to grip and turn. However, the team chasing under lights might get some assistance.

The weather is expected to be warm and clear, with no likelihood of rain interruption. Essentially, this match is about momentum versus pressure. Rajasthan plays with freedom and aggression, particularly through their young top order and attacking bowling unit. Their approach is straightforward - score quickly, attack early, and put pressure on the opposition from the start.

Meanwhile, Lucknow is under pressure to deliver at home. Their senior batting group has not performed consistently, and if this trend continues, they risk slipping further down the tournament standings. The key contest will be between Rajasthan's top order and Lucknow's new-ball attack, led by Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav.

Based on current form and balance, Rajasthan will likely start as slight favorites. They have a more stable top order and a bowling attack that has been consistently effective. Lucknow will need a complete team performance to halt their slide at home. The bigger picture is clear: Rajasthan's daring, youthful cricket versus Lucknow's attempt to gain control and confidence in their home season.
