Patna, 9 April (ABN) The Department of Rural Works has taken stringent measures to ensure the quality of roads and bridges constructed and under construction in rural areas and to bring complete transparency in the works. A special inspection campaign will be conducted across the state from 9 April to 11 April 2026 to verify the ground reality of ongoing projects in various work divisions under the department. For the implementation of this campaign, a total of 82 senior inspecting officers have been deployed across the state under the direction of Chief Engineer Jai Kishore Thakur.
All these designated officers will visit their assigned areas and conduct an on-the-spot inspection of the work and submit their detailed report to the headquarters based on the predetermined checklist. The primary objective of this three-day inspection campaign is not only to see the apparent progress of construction work but also to scrutinize the technical aspects related to maintaining quality.
Inspecting officers have been given clear instructions to strictly review the establishment of quality control laboratories at construction sites, the availability of necessary registers related to standards, and the reports of quality checks. Along with this, the tender process, contract, insurance status, performance security, and the condition of manpower and equipment present on the site have also been included in this detailed checklist. During the inspection, a special review will also be conducted of the current status of redressing complaints registered by the public through the "Hamara Bihar Hamari Sadak" app, so that a prompt solution to public problems can be ensured.
The department is particularly focusing on those projects and rural roads where tenders have been approved at a rate of less than 15 percent. Additionally, the condition of these rural roads that are beyond the defect liability period will also be inspected. If the condition of any road is found to be poor during the inspection, the concerned contractor will be strictly directed to make necessary corrections within seven days. The department's strict stance is evidence that it is fully committed to providing strong and all-weather usable roads for the convenience of rural people.
