Discussion with stakeholders of Pataliputra Township for urban development based on public interest
Patna, August 22, 2026 A meeting with stakeholders regarding Pataliputra Greenfield Satellite Township was held at Energy Auditorium on Saturday under the aegis of Urban Development and Housing Department. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Urban Development and Housing Mr. Nitish Mishra. On this occasion, Urban Development and Housing Minister Mr. Mishra said that cities have not developed in our country. As the population increased, cities began to develop. In view of the rapidly growing population, expanding cities has become unnecessary. Cities today need to be expanded. Only then future generations will have employment opportunities in the state and they will not be forced to migrate to other states. For this purpose, 12 new greenfield satellite townships have been planned in the state. He assured the farmers that no land would be acquired without their consent. From time to time we will go among the people and explain our plan. If any effort is being made, everyone's cooperation is required. Urban Development Minister said that everyone should think about future generations. Appealing to all the farmers, he said that let's work together to make Bihar better than other states. Meanwhile, Urban Development and Housing Department Secretary Mr. Vinay Kumar said that Greenfield Satellite Township is not just a plan to build a new city. It is an attempt to plan for the future better than today for the cities of Bihar. Land owners, local people, government, and other stakeholders are all important partners in building this future. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Urban Development and Housing has published the draft “Pataliputra Greenfield Satellite Township Development Plan 2047” to invite suggestions and objections from the public and various stakeholders. Greenfield townships can play an important role in balancing this pressure, as well as providing new housing, employment, investment and business opportunities. Planned Urban Areas like Pataliputra Township have the potential to boost Patna's growth and regional economic activities. The proposed area of Patliputra Township is spread over 273 villages in nine blocks. It includes the areas of Pinpan, Nubatpur, Masodhi, Fatuha, Saptchak, Patna Rural, Dhanrwa, Dunyawan and Phalwari blocks. The special zone also includes two urban areas: Nubatpur Nagar Panchayat (Partial) and Panpan Nagar Panchayat (Full). The total proposed area of Patliputra township is about 81,730 acres. It covers a core area of 3,008 acres, which includes 19 villages in Panpan block. Elaborating, he said that the development plan, land use plan, and town planning scheme will be important for the development of the township. Efforts can be made to involve landowners in the development process through land pooling, land conciliation, or other applicable land arrangements. It will be important to ensure participatory and equitable development taking into account the interests of smallholders, farmers and local people. Where necessary, consent-based arrangements or land acquisition procedures as per applicable law may be adopted.
