Exposing NDA leaders who raised the issue of nepotism: Tejashwi Yadav

Awaz E Bihar•8 May 2026 at 07:49 pm•6 views•3 min read

Patna, May 8 (ABN) Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, taking a jibe at the new government, said that the reality of the National Democratic Alliance leaders, who accused others of nepotism, has come to the forefront after the formation of the Smarat Chaudhary cabinet. Tejashwi Yadav said that Chief Minister Smarat Chaudhary's father, Shukuni Chaudhary, has also been active in politics for a long time. He claimed that in this cabinet, former Chief Ministers Jaganath Mishra's son Nitish Mishra, Jitan Ram Manjhi's son Santosh Suman, and Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar have been made ministers.

He said that more than half of the ministers in the cabinet, including Vijay Chaudhary, Rama Nishad, Shreyasi Singh, Shweta Gupta, and Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha, are from political families and are involved in hereditary politics. He also said that the sons of some big leaders - Nishant Kumar and Deepak Prakash - have been made ministers without being members of any house. Tejashwi Yadav further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called others "princes" during the election, should also say something about these matters.

He said that the public elects a government for five years, but it took six months for this government to take its full shape. According to him, if Nitish Kumar's name was to be used to make Smarat Chaudhary the Chief Minister, what was the need to waste six months? Tejashwi said that the RJD and its allies have come to power by winning elections, while the BJP and JD(U) are only doing politics on the issue of family rule. He remarked that abusing Lalu Prasad Yadav is one thing, but many leaders today have emerged from the same political ideology.

He further claimed that there are no "original BJP members" left in the party, and in the near future, the children of both deputy chief ministers will also enter the political field. The RJD leader alleged that wherever the BJP gets votes from the lower castes, it denies them political representation. He said that Lalu Yadav has fielded many Muslim candidates, but challenged the BJP to reveal how many opportunities it has provided to Muslims.

Tejashwi Yadav said that Bihar is lagging behind in terms of employment, healthcare, and income. He alleged that the government is only busy with the politics of ministerial appointments and MLA nominations, while there is no discussion on development issues. He remarked that the government has failed to do any notable work in the last six months, and its only achievement is renaming things. He also targeted the government over pension schemes, housing programs, and the education system.

Tejashwi raised the issue of low representation of women in the cabinet. He asked if 33 percent representation had been given to women in the cabinet. Moreover, he questioned the actions of bulldozers and the politics of competition. He alleged that a particular caste is being targeted. The opposition leader said that if anyone can stop the BJP, it is the regional parties. He emphasized that his party will struggle and the organization will be made stronger.

Referring to the events in West Bengal, Tejashwi commented that whenever violence erupts in any state, the BJP does politics over it, but maintains complete silence over the incidents in Bihar.
