Patna, September 26 (ABN): In view of the sensitivity of the India-Nepal border, the Bihar government has decided to further strengthen the border security and management system. In a high-level review meeting held today at 'Samwad' located at the Chief Minister's Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the relevant agencies were directed to take coordinated action to effectively stop infiltration, fake documents, fake currency, drug trafficking and other illegal activities. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Roy and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary were also present in the meeting. During this, a detailed presentation was made on border security, management, administrative challenges and prevention of illegal activities.
The Chief Minister said that the security of the country is the biggest responsibility. Considering the sensitivity of India-Nepal border, there should be no laxity in security arrangements at any level. He stressed for better coordination, timely exchange of information and coordinated action between SSB, Bihar Police and central security and investigative agencies. He directed special vigilance against infiltration in border areas, use of forged documents, counterfeit currency and drug smuggling. Border banks were also asked to ensure availability of necessary machines to identify fake notes and take legal action by identifying suspicious financial transactions and fictitious or suspicious bank accounts.
The Chief Minister directed to strictly control the movement of drugs through the border routes in accordance with the target of 'Drug-free India 2029' of the Central Government. He also directed the district magistrates and police officers of the border districts to hold regular monthly coordination meetings with central security and investigative agencies, so that immediate action is possible on sensitive matters. He also emphasized on taking necessary action in accordance with the applicable laws by identifying unregistered religious places in the border areas and improving educational facilities in the border districts. The Chief Minister said that the information system should be strengthened in sensitive areas and immediate action should be taken as per the rules if any suspicious activity is reported. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Pratiya Amrit, DGP Preeta Verma, Principal Secretary Home Pankaj Kumar, Principal Secretary Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Special Branch DG Kundankrishnan, senior officers of various departments, senior police officers and representatives of central agencies. District Magistrate and SP of border districts also joined the meeting through video conferencing.
