Harassment of schoolgirls in Jamui, 3 accused arrested, Bihar Women's Commission took notice

Patna: (ABN) After a video of harassment of two school students surfaced on social media in Jamui district, the police arrested three accused. Bihar State Women's Commission has also taken notice of the matter. Apsara, chairperson of the commission, said that as soon as the incident was reported, the police and district administration were contacted and a detailed report of the entire matter was sought. Apsara told IANS that the Women's Commission was informed about the incident through the media on Monday morning. After that, the commission started immediate action and got information about the matter from the local administration. "I wrote a letter to the SP taking immediate action," he said. Apart from this, I got detailed information about the incident by talking to the DM of Jamui. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, the matter came to the knowledge of the local administration. They said that the police identified the affected students based on the number plate of Scotty. After that, they were interviewed and an FIR was registered in the case. In a video that surfaced on social media, a male and a female student studying in class 10 were harassed by some people. After the video went viral, the police and administration started investigating the matter. Apsara said that three people have been arrested in this case so far. The local administration has told the commission that action is being taken to arrest other people involved in the incident. He said that the DM of Jamui has asked to inform about the latest situation of the matter by Monday evening. According to him, swift action was taken after the matter came to the notice of the administration. The chairperson of the Women's Commission while appreciating the action of the police and the district administration said that the speedy action taken and the arrests made after the video came out is commendable. He also appreciated the efforts of DM and SP of Jamui. On the question of the commission's team going to the spot and meeting the affected students, Apsara said that if necessary, the commission's team will visit Jamui and get complete information about the circumstances and events of the incident. He said that at present the district administration and the police are looking into the matter seriously. Any person found guilty will be dealt with according to law. The Women's Commission has also sought a detailed and updated report on the matter from the local authorities. The commission will decide the further course of action based on the information received from the administration.
