In response to US attacks, Iran launched an attack on Kuwait and Bahrain

Awaz E Bihar•28 June 2026 at 04:12 pm•13 views•4 min read

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy and aerospace force launched missile and drone operations in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to US attacks. The IRGC also said the US had attacked five of its coastal guard stations. The commander of the IRGC navy said the situation for US bases in the Middle East in the coming days would be "like hell". Press TV quoted the IRGC navy commander as saying, "The calculation of US bases in the region is a separate matter. In the coming days, they will face a situation like hell." The commander also said that by shelling the drones, other ships in the Strait of Hormuz could be reminded that the route was open without any obstacles.

The IRGC said the violation of the ceasefire was against the Iran-US agreement and would completely halt the diplomatic process to resolve the conflict. Press TV quoted the IRGC as saying, "The violation of the ceasefire is against the first condition of the agreement made in Islamabad, and this will completely stop all diplomatic processes." According to the broadcaster, the IRGC said its retaliatory attacks targeted a US airbase in Kuwait and a US naval base in Bahrain.

The Kuwaiti army said its air defense system was thwarting missile and drone attacks. Earlier, warning sirens sounded in Bahrain, and people were told to take shelter in safe places. The country's interior ministry said on X, "Warning sirens have been sounded due to a potential threat. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm, go to the nearest safe place, and avoid using main roads unless necessary."

A US official claimed that after the attacks by Iran on US facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, there were no reports of casualties among US military personnel or staff. According to Reuters, a US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said initial reports indicated that US military bases and other facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait had not suffered significant damage. The official said that so far, there had been no confirmation of the death or injury of any US personnel, nor had there been any reports of significant damage to US military facilities.

The official said the situation was not yet fully clear, and relevant agencies were reviewing all information. Therefore, more details would be released after further information became available. US authorities said they were closely monitoring the security situation in the region, while US forces deployed in Bahrain and Kuwait were also on high alert.

On the other hand, there was no immediate official response from Iran to the attacks or US claims. The international community was also closely watching the situation due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. The command said on X, "US Navy and Air Force fighter jets launched attacks on 10 Iranian military sites in and around the Strait of Hormuz tonight. These attacks were in response to an Iranian drone attack on the MT Kokuka."

Centcom also released a video of the attacks. Centcom had earlier claimed that at 4:30 am, an Iranian drone had attacked the Panama-flagged tanker Kokuka in the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker was carrying more than 2 million barrels of oil. Centcom added, "Commercial ship traffic is ongoing in the Strait of Hormuz." US President Donald Trump also said the US had launched attacks on several sites in Iran. Mr. Trump said on Truth Social, "US planes have just attacked Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar sites."

He described it as a response to the "violation of the ceasefire agreement". The US leader warned, "There may come a time when we cannot act with restraint, and we will be forced to complete the task we started so successfully in a military manner. If that happens, the Islamic Republic of Iran will cease to exist!" Earlier, Iranian media reported attacks on Iran's Kish Island and Sirik County, as well as the port city of Bandar Lengeh in the south. US Central Command confirmed attacks on several sites in Iran in response to an alleged Iranian attack on a commercial ship.
