US President Donald Trump has warned Iran on Sunday that if it takes any retaliatory action in response to US and Israeli attacks, it will face "unprecedented" military force. The attacks resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several top Iranian leaders.
The US President wrote on his social media platform "Truth Social" that "Iran has just announced that it will launch a massive attack today, which will be more severe than any previous one. It would be better for Iran not to do so, because if it does, we will target it with a force that has never been seen before! Thank you for paying attention to this matter.
After the official announcement of Khamenei's death, a 40-day mourning period has been declared in Iran. Iranian media had previously reported the death of Khamenei's family members. Earlier, the US President had written on his social network "Truth Social" that "Khamenei, who is one of the worst humans in history, has been killed."
He further stated that the Iranian people have the "greatest" opportunity to regain control of their country. Trump wrote on his social network "Truth Social" that "the country has been largely destroyed, or rather, annihilated in just one day. Nevertheless, severe and accurate bombing will continue uninterrupted for the entire week or until the goal is achieved."
Israel had announced the start of the attack on Iran on Sunday morning, which it called "Roar of the Lion". Then Washington announced that it was a joint large-scale operation with the occupying Israel, aimed at overthrowing the Iranian government. In response, Iran launched missile strikes against the occupying Israel and Gulf countries, where several US bases are located, as well as Iraq and Jordan.
The US President had announced that the goal of the attack was to destroy Iran's military capabilities, eliminate the government, and eliminate threats that pose a "sheer danger" to the US and its allies. This operation is the first of its kind in the Middle East since the 2003 invasion of Iraq, for which Washington had made preparations by mobilizing large-scale naval and air forces in the region.
In response, Tehran launched missiles at Israel and those Arab countries hosting US bases, which Iran has deemed "legitimate targets".
