Patna: (ABN) The Bihar Police Headquarters held a press conference on Monday, during which details were provided about the actions taken by the Bihar Police between January 1, 2026, and April 22, 2026. They stated that between January 1 and April 22, 2026, several key operations were conducted against criminals and Naxals, which had a significant impact on their criminal networks.
From January 1, 2026, to April 22, 2026, the police engaged in a total of 10 encounters, resulting in the deaths of 3 criminals and injuries to 7 others. The police claimed that these operations successfully dismantled the networks of several notorious criminals, thereby contributing to the strengthening of peace and order in the region.
Notable successes were also achieved in anti-Naxal operations. Suresh Koda alias Mastik - a Naxalite with a reward of 3 lakh rupees - surrendered and returned to the mainstream. Additionally, Deepak Pandey, a criminal with a reward of 2 lakh rupees, also surrendered. According to the police, this is a significant achievement in weakening the Naxal network.
A district-wise special campaign is being conducted against organized crime. A database of active groups has been compiled, and their activities are being continuously monitored. Specifically, in cases of land mafia and illegal earnings, actions are being taken to identify assets. Proposals for their attachment are being sent to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Special operations were conducted in the border districts of Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, West Champaran, and East Champaran. The Narcotics Cell seized large quantities of heroin, ganja (bhang), opium, and codeine syrup, resulting in the arrest of several smugglers. Surveillance is being maintained on these networks through aerial monitoring using drones and raids by the Special Operations Group. The deployment of STF has been increased to further strengthen control in these areas.
Between January and April 2026, the STF effectively cracked down on 38 heinous crime incidents, including murder, robbery, and dacoity. To enhance the capabilities of the police force, the STF provided training to 1,407 police personnel. Of these, 1,145 personnel were trained by the STF Training Wing, while 262 received training from other units, resulting in improved technical and operational performance.
Strict action has also been taken against cybercrime. A total of 11 cases related to ATM fraud, bank loan fraud, and data sale through APIs have been exposed. These measures have ensured the prevention of cybercrime networks and the protection of the financial interests of the general public.
