September 18 (ABN) Bihar has achieved significant success in the comprehensive health screening campaign aimed at ensuring timely detection and treatment of Communicable Diseases (NDS). According to the data received from September 2 to 17, 2026, a total of 8,520,044 people were screened for non-communicable diseases in the state, which is more than the set target. The Health Department is continuously intensifying screening activities for timely detection of non-communicable diseases among citizens above 30 years of age. Screening identifies potential diseases or health risks at an early stage, connecting the individual to necessary counseling, treatment and further medical care.
According to the data received from 2 to 17 September 2026, several districts of the state have performed exceptionally well in the non-communicable disease (NCD) screening campaign against the set targets. The top five districts in the screening area include Madhubani, Banka, Katihar, Spool and Jehanabad, ensuring widespread access to timely health services.
Hon'ble Health Minister Mr. Nishant said that the campaign should be intensified in those districts where the progress of NCD screening is relatively low. Our aim is to reach every household in the state and ensure health screening for eligible people. He directed the officers to further expand the screening campaign and ensure that no eligible person misses the screening. He said that timely detection of diseases enables patients to receive necessary treatment and serious health problems can be controlled at an early stage. He directed the field health workers to intensify the campaign and involve as many eligible people as possible in the screening process.
With the objective of bringing healthcare services closer to the citizens in the state, a special campaign, "Testing and Treatment - Medicine at your Doorstep" is being run from September 2 to November 30, 2026. Under the campaign, health checks and screenings are being conducted at home and in government health institutions.
During the campaign, special emphasis is being laid on identifying various non-communicable diseases and health risks including diabetes, high blood pressure, common cancers, heart diseases, respiratory and lung diseases and fatty liver. If an illness or health risk is identified during the screening of a person, he/she is referred for appropriate medical advice, treatment, and referral to a higher health institution. The aim of the Department of Health is to identify non-communicable diseases (NCD) at an early stage and provide timely treatment to patients. For this purpose, the screening campaign is being continuously extended by ANMs, Asha workers and other health workers. All citizens above 30 years of age are requested to undergo regular health check-up and NCD screening. Timely screening can prevent serious health complications. Health services are being provided to more people through the campaign "Testing and Treatment - Medicine at Your Doorstep".
