Kairana's Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Iqra Hasan has also been named as an accused in the case of blocking the road outside the office of DIG Saharanpur Range Abhishek Singh on May 19, as revealed in the police report.
On May 19, Iqra Hasan had gone to demand justice for the family of Jassla Shamli's Mono murder case, along with the victim's mother and other family members. It is alleged that the DIG did not consider their case and threw them out of his chamber. After that, MP Iqra Hasan was discussing the next strategy with former state minister Mang Ram Kishan, Tej Pal Singh Kishan, Ajay Kishan, Anuj Kishan, Shish Pal Kishan, and Satya Pal Kishan, among others, when the Mahila police station police took Iqra Hasan to the Mahila police station and Mang Ram Kishan and others were arrested by the Sadar Bazar police under sections of disturbing public peace and presented before City Magistrate Kuldip Singh, who sent them to jail instead of granting them bail.
Upon receiving the news of their companions being sent to jail, Iqra Hasan and her supporters staged a sit-in at the Sadar Bazar police station until 9 pm, demanding the release of Mang Ram Kishan and his companions. The sit-in ended on the assurance of SP City Vivek Bandal and City Magistrate Kuldip Singh that the six people, including Kishan, would be released on the morning of May 20. During the sit-in, MP Iqra Hasan was constantly and strongly telling the police officials to send her to jail as well, but the Saharanpur police administration remained silent.
As the news of the sit-in spread continuously on social media, SP MLA Aashu Malik, former MLA Virendra Thakur, former MLA Maviya Ali, former MLA Manoj Choudhary, and others gathered in large numbers at the Sadar police station, and Muzaffarnagar MP Harendra Malik and others also left for Saharanpur with their workers. The police administration allowed Iqra Hasan to leave peacefully from there. Now questions are being raised that when she was also named in the FIR for the same crime for which Mang Ram Kishan and others were sent to jail, what was the difficulty for the authorities in arresting and sending Iqra Hasan to jail. Iqra Hasan had firmly stayed put in the same police station. As soon as the sit-in ended, she left for Lucknow with Mono Kishan's mother and her elder brother and MLA Nahid Hasan, where Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav listened to the victims' plight and presented a check for a relief amount of two lakh rupees.
In this matter, SP City Vivek Bandal told journalists today that the police are taking action. The entire incident seems to be giving political benefit to the SP. BJP leaders are also silent on the whole matter. The entire case is related to the backward Kishan community, so the impact of this incident will certainly be felt in the assembly elections.
