Patna: (ABN) RJD's national president of the minority cell and former Union Minister Ali Ashraf Fatmi has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Addressing a press conference in Patna, he said that Nitish Kumar, driven by the politics of power and self-interest, has paved the way for the ideologies of the BJP and RSS within Bihar. He alleged that the BJP, which Nitish had given space to increase its influence, has now ousted him from power. Fatmi claimed that the BJP is now plotting to form a government under its own leadership - a move that neither serves the interests of Bihar nor its minorities.
Providing details about the party's upcoming programs, Fatmi announced that a 'reception ceremony' will be held for RJD's national executive president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on April 11, 2026, at the Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna. The event is expected to be attended by a large number of leaders and workers from the minority community across the state. The ceremony is being organized as a gesture of confidence and respect from the minority community towards Tejashwi Yadav after he took over as the executive president.
Citing statistics, the former Union Minister cornered the Nitish government. He pointed out that during Lalu Prasad Yadav's tenure, the share of Muslims in government jobs was 8%, which has now decreased to just 6% during the NDA and Nitish Kumar's regime. He alleged that Nitish Kumar, in his collusion with the BJP, has compromised the rights and interests of minorities, resulting in a sense of insecurity and unrest within the community today.
Fatmi emphasized that Lalu Prasad never compromised with communal forces for political gain. Following the same ideological path, Tejashwi Yadav has strengthened the community's trust in the RJD through the work he has initiated for minorities during his 17-month tenure. He further stated that during his tours across the state, he has seen a deep sense of trust and appreciation for Tejashwi among both the youth and the minority community.
During the press conference, it was clarified that the April 11 event will not just be a formal ceremony. Instead, the RJD will also use the occasion to announce its future strategy for safeguarding the rights of minorities and seeking justice for them. The RJD leaders are confident that the minority community stands in complete solidarity with the party and is fully prepared to face upcoming challenges.
Addressing the issue of an MLA from the minority community betraying the party during the Rajya Sabha elections, Fatmi made it clear that this was an individual's mistake, not the community's. He said the party is internally resolving the matter and those responsible for the wrongdoing will not be spared. Senior leaders such as Bhola Yadav, Dr. Anwar Alam, and Ejaz Ahmed also appealed to party workers to gather in large numbers in Patna.
